Introduction

These guidelines are intended to guide and support professionals caring for patients with a palliative diagnosis who are bleeding and may benefit from the use of tranexamic acid.

This guidance should be used in conjunction with other SPAGG guidelines and any other relevant policies/procedures relating to the care of the patient.

To provide clear guidelines for the safe and effective use of tranexamic acid in palliative care for the prevention and treatment of bleeding. These guidelines aim to reduce anxiety, relieve suffering and optimise symptom management as well as providing support for healthcare professionals.
